Directors 

 

Armando Pauker

 

Armando is a general partner at Apex Venture Partners, with an investment focus in enterprise infrastructure (hardware, software, security) and networking hardware.  Prior to joining Apex, Armando served as Vice President of Networking Products for Cybernet Systems Corporation, a Linux-based software start-up.  Previously, he was a senior product manager for Electronics for Imaging, a developer of high performance digital imaging servers.  Armando also served as a management consultant with Booz.Allen & Hamilton, where he worked with clients in technology industries.  Prior to Booz, Armando was a senior engineering manager at Tandem Computers, Inc., where he led product strategy, and hardware and software development in computer subsystems.  Armando holds an MBA with High Distinction from the University of Michigan, and he received his BS in Engineering from California Institute of Technology. 

 

Armando currently serves on the boards of Cogency Software, Initiate Systems, and Metallect Corporation.  He previously served on the board of Informative (acquired by Satmetrix).

 

Brian Nugent

 

Brian Nugent is the CEO of Applied Identity. Prior to joining Applied Identity, he was Senior Vice President of Sales and Field Operations for Teros, which was acquired by Citrix (CTXS). He has also held other executive management positions including Senior Vice President of Sales, Support and Global Alliances at Atrica, and Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales, Marketing, Support & Business Development for LuxN, Inc., acquired by Sorrento (SNTO).  Mr. Nugent's experience also includes senior sales positions at Cisco and 3Com. 

 

Paul Mockapetris 

 

Paul Mockapetris is the inventor of the Domain Name System (DNS), and is currently Chief Scientist and Chairman of the Board at Nominum, Inc.  Paul created DNS in the 1980s at USC’s Information Sciences Institute where he was later the Director of ISI’s High Performance Computing and Communications Division.  At ISI, after working on the design of the SMTP protocol for email and its first implementation as part of the birth of the Internet in 1983, Paul took on the challenge of designing DNS, and then operated the original “root servers” for all Internet names.  Paul was program manager for networking at ARPA in the early 1990s, supervising efforts such as gigabit and optical networking.  He has dual BS degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering from MIT, and a PhD in Information and Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine.
